Cosmetic Injectables

Involves injecting specified doses of a specific neurotoxin to target treatment areas, to relax the muscles. In aesthetic medicine this feature is used to temporarily relax the muscles causing wrinkles which results in smoothed skin.
Areas of treatment include:

  • Forehead

  • Gummy smile
  • Brow lift
  • Around the mouth
  • Lip flip
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive perspiration in the under arm region)
  • Facial contour
  • Bruxism (teeth grinding)

Wrinkle injections are one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures with minimal downtime, and are highly effective in smoothing the skin.

The procedure takes 10-15 minutes and the full effect of the treatment can take up to 10 days. Repeat treatments are needed every 3-4 months over a 12 month period.

Minor side effects include tenderness and redness, which usually resolves in 24-48 hours. Although rare, bruising may occur, which can last 5-7 days. Significant but rare side effects can be eye droop and puffiness, which usually improves in 2-4 weeks. Clients can resume normal activities soon after the procedure.

Dermal fillers use biodegradable gel that closely resembles the Hyaluronic acid found in your skin.

It is injected into the skin in small doses with a very fine needle. These semi-permanent fillers plump and lift the skin to replace collagen that has been lost over time. It also creates an internal framework to enhance the facial features. At P&Q MediSpa we use a range of fillers to provide various desired effects based on the thickness of the gel, from enhancing facial features to providing definition, improving fines lines and skin texture.

Dermal fillers last between 6-9 months and the results are instant.

Side effects may include swelling, tenderness, redness, and occasional bruising, which usually resolve in a couple of days, although bruising can last up to 10-14 days. Small lumps can occasionally be felt in the treatment area, which resolves on its own.

Skin boosters are an injectable treatment which provide skin hydration at a deeper level. Boosters reduce the appearance of sun damage, improve texture and skin tone and minimise fine lines.

For optimal results, an initial treatment of 2-3 sessions four weeks apart is recommended, followed by two sessions per year for maintenance.

Some people can experience swelling, tenderness, bruising and redness and sometimes pain in treatment areas for up to two weeks, however as symptoms are mild, clients can resume normal activity.

This procedure involves the use of dissolvable suture PDO (Polydioxanone) to tighten and firm the skin. The threads are strategically placed at the areas of treatment with the help of very fine needles, under the effect of topical anaesthetic.

PDO threads boost collagen production, which helps to improve skin texture and smooth the skin. This procedure offers longer lasting results, with the full effects of the treatment seen in 8-12 weeks, which can last up to 12 months.

This is a minimally invasive procedure with very little down time, with clients able to resume day to day activities the same day.

Complications can include swelling, redness and tenderness, which usually resolves in 48 hrs. Bruising may occur, which can last up to 10-14 days. Rare possibility of infection and puckering which can be resolved with treatment.

PDO threads have been used in surgeries since the 1980s.
